Show Standard

Nothing is more exciting than a show with a large turnout. Overall large turnout is great, but the numbers of your chosen species make your day of exhibiting even more fabulous. We want to encourage exhibiting of birds, it has seen a decline in America and I think this is harmful for Aviculture as a whole. When breeders and keepers strive for show wins, they take exquisite care of their birds, and pair carefully. Careful pairings usually means lots of outcrossing to the “normal” and wild type birds which keep up size and quality. We believe this is a good practice. We are always available to help new people get involved. It may seem intimidating, but with a little easy guidance…. you will find it a breeze. Feel free to email us at info@eddiesaviary.com or call/text at 978-290-1190 anytime and we can help you get started.

As the lineolated parakeet is a bit obscure on the show circuit, so is common knowledge about what one should look like. This page will serve as a way to explain to others interested in exhibiting their birds, or just breeding to a standard, what the “ideal” linnie should look like. Do not be discouraged if you don’t own one that looks like this now, as it is a goal to work towards. A bird that is perfectly marked or fitting to the conformation standard exactly, at this point in time in the United States, is more a rarity than commonplace. Each generation you seek an improvement in size, conformation, or markings.

WHAT SHOULD THE MARKINGS ON A LINEOLATED PARAKEET LOOK LIKE?
